Ceasefire requires willingness on both sides...
KCK Executive Committee Member Mustafa Karasu addressed the writers on the special war during the programme named Sela Sor on Roj TV and said that "reality cannot be disguised in any way". He explained that the special war will cause a lack of resolution. Evaluating the calls for a ceasefire, Karasu said that "ceasefire requires willingness on both sides".
Karasu continued to say that "if the methods of the special war could have been useful, this would have been the case during the 1990s when the dirty war was at its height. Intellectuals in Turkey must be more courageous than the journalists. They should demonstrate their position against those who want to solve the issue through violence".
Mustafa Karasu, Member of KCK Executive Committee, also addressed the calls on the PKK for ceasefire. Emphasising that "a unilateral ceasefire is meaningful only if they can form a basis for a resolution", Karasu explained that the state had turned every single ceasefire that they have declared in the past into a weapon in their psychological warfare. He said that the state is evaluating the process of the ceasefire as a process to gain time and annihilate, which becomes clearer after the incidents that took place on the ceasefire announced on 13 April.
Karasu, who explained that they are being patient despite the political, military and cultural massacre operations, said "we no longer want to be a party to such policies". He explained that if a resolution is brought forward, admitting the fact that the issue cannot be resolved through violence, and start the process of dialogue and meetings, the current position may then change.
He explained that the first condition of this is to be able to organise direct rather than indirect meetings to see Ocalan.
